Administration

Dr. Brian Muller

I am extremely honored to serve right here in my very own community as the principal of Northwest High School. For decades, this school  community has consistently demonstrated a tradition of excellence that is unmatched, and I am proud to be a part of it. Our students have proven that they perform at high levels of proficiency and like to be challenged with high rigor in the classroom so they can compete with the best students in the country. In the time I have spent here as a parent and a principal, I can tell you that there are many more qualities and attributes that make us exemplary. Parent involvement and support, motivated/inspired/dedicated students, school spirit, effective and committed teachers who genuinely care, high expectations, and the loyalty and traditions in our community make Northwest High stand out above the rest.

I consider it my responsibility to push our students to even greater academic heights and expose students to various career pathways or post-secondary opportunities so they can allow us to help them work toward those goals. I believe it takes the investment of every person in our school community for us to sustain our standard of excellence. I want there to be something available at Northwest High for every student to feel a sense of belongingness such as clubs, curriculum, sports, or the arts. It is important to me that our school demonstrates an atmosphere of mutual respect where teachers, students, and parents are valued and heard. I love our school and I want to thank you for choosing to be a part of our Viking Nation!

Personal

My wife is a graduate of Northwest High and is a kindergarten teacher right here in our Northwest community. We have three amazing kids who are all Vikings: Class of 2024, 2027, and 2029. We value our family time and love to travel to new places. I am a big fan of the Florida Gators and Atlanta Braves. Although I was born in Florida, I have lived in North Carolina for over 30 years.

Communication

As you know, we have outstanding teachers here at Northwest High School. Please contact them first if you have any concerns or questions about the classroom. It is my mission to be accessible and visible to teachers, parents, and students. I think that effective communication is important. I am honored to join the fantastic staff and community of Northwest Guilford High School as Assistant Principal. I am passionate about education and believe in the power of collaboration to create a positive and impactful learning environment for every student.

My journey in education began in the classroom, where I taught upper-grade elementary students. This experience provided me with a deep understanding of child development and effective instructional practices.

Before joining Northwest Guilford, I served as a Principal Intern at Southern Guilford Middle School, where I gained valuable experience in school leadership. Prior to that, I was a curriculum facilitator at Oak View Elementary School, where I supported teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies.

I look forward to working closely with our dedicated teachers and families to foster innovative teaching practices that ensure we are meeting the diverse needs of each individual student. By working together, we can create a school culture that empowers students to reach their full potential!

It is a privilege to join Northwest Guilford High School, where academic excellence, student growth, and community connection are at the heart of everything we do.

Before transitioning into school administration, I taught English and Teacher Cadet at Southern Guilford High School. During my time there, I also served as the advisor for Student Government, was an active member of the School Leadership Team, and supported the school through the PTA. These experiences deepened my belief in the power of student voice, shared leadership, and strong school-family partnerships.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master’s in School Administration from High Point University, where I was a member of the HPU Leadership Academy. As an educator, I believe in setting high expectations while providing the support every student needs to thrive. I am passionate about fostering academic curiosity, preparing students for life beyond high school, and creating an supportive environment where all students feel valued. As an administrator, my goal is to support our students, staff, and families in every way possible by working together to ensure a safe, engaging, and inspiring school experience.

Originally from Waynesville, NC, I have happily called Greensboro home for the past 14 years. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, trying new things (especially food!), and spending time with the people I love most.
